Okay, this activity is: What would you take with you on a 3- week voyage at sea? List 10 food items.
- Bread because it keeps for quite long if under the right conditions, even though there won't be fridges or freezers, I'll just put it in a container or something.
- Canned food because that also keeps for really long.
- I don't know... maybe pickled stuff, even though that tastes rubbish.
- Some sweets because I'll probably get tired of eating the same stuff over and over.
- Fruits like bananas or lemons that don't need to be put in the fridge because it's healthy and I need to get lots of vitamins while on the journey.
- Sauces and things so I can make my food items into something delicious!
- Some of those Chinese preserved eggs to last me a while.
- Honey, because not only is it delicious but it never spoils, so even if the journey was 3 months it'll still be okay.
- Some snacks for the first part of the journey.
- Vegetables like onions, carrots and potatoes. They last quite a while and don't really need to be put in the fridge.

ReplyDeleteWell done for participating in the Summer Learning Journey and creating this blog post about 10 food items you would take with you if you were going on a sea voyage with no refrigerator or freezer!
I really like how you have thought about the aspect of no fridge or freezer.
Canned foods, honey and sauces are all excellent choices as they are non-perishable items and will therefore last a long time.
It is awesome to see some fruits and vegetables on you list! You definitely wouldn’t want to get scurvy while you were away at sea, so the vitamins and minerals in these would help avoid this!
Out of all of the different foods on your list, which one is your favourite?
What kind of meals would you make out of these ingredients?
I have never heard of Chinese preserved eggs before. Would you be able to explain what these are?
For the ninth item on your list you mentioned snacks for the journey. What kind of snacks would you pack?
If I were going on this sea voyage, I would pack peanut butter. This is because I eat peanut butter every morning, and don’t think I could go a day without it! Plus, peanut butter is full of good, healthy fats and lasts a while before expiring.
Keep up the excellent work!
